Master Name List

Is there any way we can put these letters in the Template:Gallery Listing so that it's easer to navigate between them? If we just leave out the <gallery></gallery> info from the gallery info section, everything should stay the same, right?--Peteparker 14:35, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Page Moves and the New Naming Policy

If you want to help us update to the new naming policy, the worst thing you can do right now is *actually move pages*. I'm serious. Unless you know what you're doing, you'll probably create more work for us than you save. There are child pages that need to be moved, and references to the character that need to be updated, and all of this should be done *before* the character's actual page gets moved. Its a lot of work, but its even more work if we have to guess what those pages were after the fact, because someone moved the parent page and broke all the links. Its even worse when they move it to a questionable name (Anna Marie (Earth-616) has no last name, and thus is not a proper name for Rogue's page, for instance). That has to stop. Now. Frankly, if you're not an administrator, you shouldn't be moving character pages right now unless an administrator asks you to. Otherwise we get cluster**** like the one i logged in to see this morning.

The thing to do to help us is head to User:Squirrelloid/Master Name List, and open up www.marvunapp.com in a separate window. Choose an unworked page and list a plausible real name or best alternative for each character in the database, plus add a line for every *non-Conan* character marvunapp lists which we don't have a page for. Check out the Master Name List A-C pages for examples. (You can tell which characters are Conan because they say "Hyborian Age" in marvunapp). We need that data before we can make effective and accurate decisions on new page names. --Squirrelloid 12:45, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

With junior's arrival I have been too busy for the database lately, and probably will be for some time to come, too. :(

Yeah, big changes...good to hear from ya! For the most part, we changed over all the names - a lot of what we began (back in the day now) has become standard for the site. Actually, I was just thinking about some of your contributions and was wishin' you were on here to make some of those "fun" choices on ways to handle the code on the templates.
