History

The past history of Dr. Strange of Earth-9997 mirrors that of his Earth-616 counterpart. However at least Stephen Strange-9997 has revealed that his hands were physically disfigured as a result of his automobile accident years ago, and has magically made them appear normal as a matter of vanity. Additionally, his relationship with Clea appears to have been greatly strained and they may not be married in this reality.
In recent history, Strange's servant Wong would be manipulated by Mephisto int using magic to make Clea become embittered by Strange's neglect towards their relationship. As Strange searched for a mystical reason and solution for mankinds mutation, Clea would be tricked into falling in love with Loki and also psychically slaying Strange, trapping his ectoplasmic astral form in the Realm of the Dead but keeping his physical body alive so that he would not have access to his powers in that realm and would function essentially like a ghost, thus removing Strange's interference in any of Mephisto's plans.
In this realm, Dr. Strange would be recruited by Mar-Vel who had just absorbed the Enigma Force and planned to kill Death and create a paradise in the Realm of the Dead. As a bitter irony, Wong would be charged with keeping Strange's physical body alive, and with the Sanctum overrun by the Mindless Ones (who were trapped there with a containment spell) would relocate himself and Strange's body to Japan where Wong would join with Xen, but also simultaneously be the Red Ronin, leader of the Tong of Creel movement.
When the Hulk is sent into the Realm of the Dead to learn what the meaning of Bruce Banner's dreams about a reborn Mar-Vel and Earth dying, the Hulk would run into Strange who would reveal at least as much of the truth that he knew (That he was betrayed by Clea at least) This would lead to Clea being banished to Asgard and the end of her brief union with Loki.
Strange would then spend the next three years helping Mar-Vel amass an army of super-humans to help in Mar-Vel's quest, although Strange could no do anything short of provide his wisdom. When Mar-Vel succeeded in his quest and killed Death and built Paradise, Mar-Vel would use his vast power to restore Strange to life.
When Strange learned that in killing Death, Mar-Vel made it impossible to die on Earth, he would relocate to Latveria to provide his medical expertise to help ease the suffering of those who could not die. Wishing to free Clea, Strange would get the aid of Xen, Thor and Loki in traveling to Asgard to try and petition Odin to free Clea. Although they met opposition, they would succeed in freeing Clea, as well as further fullfill Thor and Loki's plan to free Asgard from Odin's control.
Upon being returned to Earth, Xen, Clea and Strange would have to work together to stop the resurrected Fin Fang Foom, and destroy the creatures body. Afterwards, Strange appealed to Clea that he will devote his life to her, however Clea rejected Strange's offer, believing their relationship was over.
Strange since returned to his doctoring, and offered his advice when a gathering of the worlds most brilliant men contemplated how to create a new Death. Strange's activities following this remain unrevealed.
