Synopsis for "The Wail of the Banshee"

Banshee robs a painting, and later some tobacco. The Ogre berates him for going out. The X-men, meanwhile, test Cal Rankins enhanced range that he can duplicate powers at. Cerebro goes off on Banshee's second expedition, and they try to prepare for his sonic attack. Ogre and Banshee then attack the mansion to capture professor X for Factor 3. Banshee knocks out the X-Men and leaves because their earplugs are insufficient. As the Ogre is getting away with professor, Jean Grey arrives and trips him, giving the others sufficient time to come to their senses and attack. The X-Men drive him off without Professor X. Additionally, Professor X mentally analyzed the Ogre's sound-dampening device, and duplicates it. Banshee attacks again and the X-Men are ready for him - capturing him. Ogre breaks in and stuns everyone but Mimic and Cyclops who are currently elsewhere. Cyclops returns and blasts Ogre's weapon. Ogre tries to flee but is intercepted by Mimic, who trashes him in a short battle. Finally, Professor X disables Banshee's headband, freeing him from the Ogre's mind control.

Notes

• No special notes.

Trivia

• Cyclops notices a locked door in the basement - its the first time we see it, and its where the professor hides when he fakes his death.
• Banshee was originally intended to be female by Roy Thomas, but the character was made male by an editorial decision. "Banshee" comes from the gaelic "baen sidhe" (same pronunciation), which is a female spirit with a deadly wail.
